Women Who Run With the Wolves
Facilitated by Kimball Pier. mft
Starts Thursday 5th January, 2012 5-6.15pm
The group will follow the book Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola-Estes. The group is for women who feel a yearning to live more creative or soulful lives. The author uses the archetype of the wolf which is symbolic of the Wild Feminine. Many of us tell ourselves we can't follow our hearts desire or a calling because it wouldn't make financial sense or because we have children who need us or myriad other reasons. Many of us feel trapped in lives that don't fit us, many women feel disconnected from their bodies and slowly slip into lives of survival and tolerating life rather than awakening into a conscious life of our own creation. The book teaches women to re-connect with intuition and to regard it as their authentic voice, the source of our power and creativity. The group will reflect in each session and journal or express in another creative way how each section of the book has affirmed or awakened them. As the author says:
"We are filled with a longing for the wild. There are few culturally sanctioned antidotes for this yearning. We were taught to feel shame for such a desire. We grew out hair long and used it to hide our feelings. But the shadow of the Wild Woman still lurks behind us during our days and in our nights. No matter where we are, the shadow that trots behind us is defininitely four-footed."
The book is available for purchase at For Goodness Sake.
