An introduction to Nonviolent Communication
With John Mariotti
Nonviolent Communication can help you:
- Transform conflict into peace and connection.
- Build relationships based on compassion and understanding.
- Be honest and assertive without blame, criticism, or demand.
- Find solutions to problems that meet everyone's needs.
- Break patterns of thinking and reacting that lead to anger, anxiety and depression.
The purpose of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is to create a connection within ourselves and with others that allows our natural compassion to flow, a connection in which we give to each other willingly from the heart. We'll look at what blocks us from this natural state of connection and compassion, leading to the conflict and suffering we see in the world, and how Nonviolent Communication can help bring us back to the way we were meant to live with each other.
This presentation will include an overview of the principles, process, and consciousness of the language of Nonviolent Communication. The learning will be lively and fun as participants engage in practices, role-play, and exercises in the whole group and small groups.
JOHN MARIOTTI: John Mariotti has been a Martial Arts instructor in Fernley NV for more than 12 years. He is at the forefront of the Martial Artists for Peace Movement. He has been studying Non-Violent Communication for more than 5 years and hopes to get it right one day. John and his fiancée, Francesca Gentille have been offering NVC workshops in the Northern Nevada/California area for more than 3 years. He hopes the evening will meet your needs for learning, communication, and community. He knows it will meet those needs for him and feels joy in sharing NVC with you.
