A talk given by Marilyn Schlitz, Ph.D., Vice President for Research and Education at the Institute of Noetic Sciences

Health care is in a time of profound change. Where it ends up is critical to each of us as we deal with our own and our family’s health and healing. An area that is gaining ground is the role of consciousness in healing. What is the nature of this transformation, what is the evidence to support its value, and what are some of the positive indicators that suggest that a more humanistic approach to medicine is fast approaching? Grounded in her unique work in this area, Schlitz will offer a presentation that combines lecture, video, group discussion, and direct experience formats.
Marilyn Schlitz, Ph.D. is a medical anthropologist and research scientist who has been exploring the interface of consciousness and healing for over three decades. She is currently Vice President for Research and Education at the Institute of Noetic Sciences and Senior Scientist at the California Pacific Medical Center. She is co-editor of Consciousness and Healing: Integral Approaches to Mind Body Medicine and an upcoming book, Living Deeply: The Art and Science of Transformation.

The Institute of Noetic Sciences, located in Northern California, conducts and sponsors leading-edge research into the potentials and powers of consciousness—including perceptions, beliefs, attention, intention, and intuition. The institute explores phenomena that do not necessarily fit conventional scientific models, while maintaining a commitment to scientific rigor. The institute is not a spiritual association, political-action group, or a single-cause institute. Rather, they honor open-minded approaches and multiple ways of knowing, bring discernment to their work, and support diversity of perspectives on social and scientific matters.
